In the scope of the Industrial Symbiosis in İzmir Region Project, the Moderation Training, a continuation of the training of trainers for key stakeholders in the field of industrial symbiosis, was held on the 4th of July 2022 at Wyndham Grand İzmir Özdilek Hotel.

Within the course of the program, carried out with the participation of stakeholders who will contribute to the institutional and systematic operation of the developed industrial symbiosis collaborations and will play a role in the development of a management model unique to İzmir by undertaking the role of facilitators in the field, the topics of development of the created business opportunities, workshop moderation and workshop management were discussed.

In the course of the Moderation Training, topics such as the duties of the facilitators during a synergy workshop, desk and time management, identification of existing resources and needed resources, filling and editing the forms used for resource matching, and possible synergy pairings were discussed.

All relevant topics, from the distribution of duties required to be realized to how the forms should be filled out and how to record the resources in the industrial symbiosis software, were discussed in detail during the synergy workshop. An interactive workshop simulation was realized that enabled the facilitators to access and to enter data in the industrial symbiosis program and thus provided the facilitators an opportunity for practicing the application.

Officials from Aegean Region Chamber of Industry (EBSO), İzmir Chamber of Commerce (İZTO), İzmir Commodity Exchange (İTB), Aegean Exporters’ Association (EİB), Chamber Of Environmental Engineers (ÇMO), İzmir Water and Sewerage Administration (İZSU) and the OIZs that operate in İzmir and have participated in the first round of the İzmir Industrial Symbiosis Trainings of Trainers, attended the Moderation Training.
